Fabulous First Fridays at Five

Free monthly peer-to-peer collaboration.

Join us for a live open Zoom meetup! This is a dedicated, collaborative space for Canadian bookkeepers to talk shop, troubleshoot, discuss workflows, and bounce ideas off one another.

I’ll be there to facilitate and share insights from my own years in the industry, but truthfully, it is just as fabulous to hear how other professionals would tackle the exact same questions.

New bookkeepers, senior bookkeepers, office managers who ended up doing the books. Everyone who attends has seen something the others haven’t.

Bring a problem to solve, or just drop by and say hi.

Business owners are welcome too, and the questions they bring are often the best ones!

First Friday of every month at 5pm Eastern. Register for each session separately.

Questions people ask

Do I need to be certified?

Nope. This is for anyone who touches the bookkeeping, or who has to think about the bookkeeping.

What if I don’t have a question?

You don’t need one. Plenty of people come to listen. You may hear someone with a problem you’ve already solved.

Do I have to be Canadian?

Nope. The content is specifically for Canadian bookkeepers, but people from other countries and jurisdictions are welcome too. Canada has its own rules and regulations that affect how we do the bookkeeping, and material written elsewhere tends not to account for them. Bookkeeping in Canada is not the same as bookkeeping in the US.

How long is it?

It usually runs for about an hour, but it can run a little shorter or longer depending on the conversation. It may also end early if all the questions and conversations are resolved in the first half. People are welcome to leave whenever they need to.

What time zone is it in?

Five o’clock Eastern time, on the first Friday of every month.

Do I have to arrive right on time, or can I come a little late?

Nope, you do not have to arrive right at the beginning. It does make things easier to get the introductions out of the way, though.

Is it recorded?

Yes, in case a detailed answer is given that an attendee would like to reference later. The recording is never published. Video, or sections of video, are only shared with the explicit consent of the attendees.

Do I have to turn my camera on?

Preferred, but not required. This is peer-to-peer, so it goes better when people can see who they are talking to.
