For this month's resources I am sharing some #FabulousFreeContent to help your business to grow and prosper!

1. Quickbooks Small Business Centre: Did you know that Intuit Quickbooks offers free guides for running your Canadian business? And you don't have to be a Quickbooks User to be able to access them! There is information on accounting & bookkeeping, HR, running payroll, funding & financing, taxes, time management, and much more!

2. Should you pay yourself a salary?: If you are running a non-incorporated business, it is considered self employment income, and the profit of the business is your personal taxable income. BUT it is entirely different when you incorporate the business! If your business is incorporated, it is no longer 'you'; it is a separate entity. Now, you own shares in a corporation. The corporation pays corporate income tax on the corporate profit, but what about the shareholders? They have options for compensation; drawing money out (dividends), or, paying themselves a salary. But which one should you choose? Moneysense has a great article on this that you can find here. Whatever you decide, make sure to connect with your accountant to create a compensation plan that saves you the most money in taxes. It does need to be a "before thought" done with intent, it cannot be an afterthought! Unless you enjoy paying more taxes than you need to...

3. Franklin Covey Free Webcasts: Have you heard of the book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People"? As per their website "Stephen R. Covey’s book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People®, continues to be a best seller for the simple reason that it ignores trends and pop psychology and focuses on timeless principles of fairness, integrity, honesty, and human dignity." I just finished reading it, and there were a lot of insights that resonated with me and my own message to Entrepreneurs! I was also excited to find that the author's son has continued to share the message and resources of his father on FranklinCovey.com, including some fabulous free webcasts! The principles are hugely applicable to Leadership in Business, as well as in our personal lives! You can check out the Free Webcasts offered here!
